 John Martin with Stan Bolton

Stan Bolton wins for a record fourth time

at our annual show.

SOUTHERN LIZARD CANARY CLUB

SHOW REPORT 2010.

By Judge David Allen

YEAR OF THE GOLD

The Southern Lizard show was held at the Wendover Memorial Hall on the 28th of November, it was a very cold a frosty morning.

Just under 90 lizards entered. The only disappointment was there was no Novice birds on the day, this maybe due to the weather.

Best lizard was won by Stan Bolton with Non Cap Gold Cock, this bird had an outstanding back with nice straight lines and good breast work for a cock bird to, the ground colour of this bird was superb. From the moment I selected it as it class winner I knew it would do well when it came to the specials.

This is the second year running Stan has won the Southern {Although there was no show in 2009 he won it in 2008} Stan has now won the Southern Lizard show four times.

Second Best lizard was another Non cap Gold this time a Hen, this was John Records bird. This bird again had a good back and good breast work but Stans bird just had the edge over Johns. third Best and only silver in the top 5 was a Clear Cap silver Cock of Joe Coackleyís. this was certainly a nice bird with some good breast work for a cock bird. Fourth best Lizard went to John Records Broken Cap Gold Hen this bird was also winner of the largest class on the day. This was a very good class with the top three in this class being very close indeed but Johnís hen just edged it. He had great ground colour and yet another gold with a good back. Fifth Best Lizard and completing the top five was a Clear Cap gold hen of Stan Boltonís a good bird but with great depth of colour with a really nice clear cap. This year is definitely the year of the Gold with four of the top five at the show being Goldís which is a trend I have seen at most shows this year. One other bird that was also outstanding was Stan Boltonís Over-year gold this bird had great depth of colour for an over-year and only a few white tips to the flight feathers.

Class winner were:
